Playing the xylophone
Objective: Promote auditory attention and eye-hand coordination
Material: Xylophone*
Preparation: The xylophone with clapper is placed either directly in the cupboard or on a tray.
Execution: The child may tap on the xylophone with the clapper. This produces harmonic sounds and contributes to the positive development of the child’s auditory perception.

Large wooden sound building blocks in a basket
Objective: Promote auditory perception
Material: Sound blocks* (the sound blocks we have used for our picture are not available on the US market, but these are similar), small basket
Preparation: The sound blocks are placed in the basket, which in turn is placed either directly on the shelf or on a tray.
Execution: The children explore the sound blocks and clear out the basket. This trains auditory perception, as each wooden brick makes a different sound when shaken. Afterwards, the bricks are put back into the basket; older children can do this on their own.
Music Box
Objective: Promote auditory attention and eye-hand coordination.
Material: Music box*
Preparation: The music box is placed either directly in the cupboard or on a tray.
Execution: The child turns on the music box and hears a melody. This not only promotes eye-hand coordination and tweezer grasp, but also auditory perception.
